My testimony, as read in this book, is living proof. God's power turned my once destructive life of addictions, anger, depression, guilt and shame into a wonderful message of hope. I am living proof that "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature."

Hello. My name is Deanna and I am a believer who has struggled with many addictions in my life. For nine years I was a slave to chemical dependency. Throughout my teen years and into adulthood I greatly abused alcohol and marijuana. I was addicted to nicotine, caffeine, sex, relationships, and shopping. I was trapped by the chains of character defects that I had picked up as a child of this world.

As life and this world began to pile burden after burden onto me, I lost any desire to live whatsoever. The pains of rape, molest, divorce, abuse and abandonment were more than I could handle. In fact, I even tried to take my life once. Since that didn't work, I set out on a path of self destruction. My purpose - to die so that I could face God to ask Him a one-word question: Why? Why would He allow such things to happen to me? Why was this world He created so filled with rage, destruction, grief and cruelty? Why did I have to stay in it?

Then, just over ten years ago, I set out on a journey that would change all that. This collection of poems is a memoir of sorts, a record of the love, hope and peace that I found in the love, patience and compassion of our Creator. May you be blessed by these words and find your own personal peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. --Deanna
